"Suspense" Original acrylic on canvas board, 60cm x 85cm available for 250 pounds (UK only). The third of my Gardenstown abstracts. I tried to incorporate the colours in the background and make them part of the foreground shapes rather than have it as a separate backdrop as in the previous canvases.

How does this painting incorporate suspense?

Hi Valinda, and thanks for your question.

I wanted to portray an object or series of objects that appeared to have no clear origin, scale or size yet existed somewhere. Foreground and background hues interchange (reds, whites and pinks) and though there is a balance between these free floating elements there is also a tension or a 'suspense'. The inter-connectedness is profound but also fragile..
